Services include home-based programs, school support and consultation.

The Birchtree Center offers a school-based program for children aged three through seventeen years:

  • Programs are systematically designed for each individual student.
  • We have a one-to-one clinical instructor to student ratio.
  • We emphasize the generalization of skills to school, family and community.
  • Learning opportunities include small group instruction and interactions with typically-developing peers as a child progresses.
  • Transition and follow-up services for graduating students are provided.

Outreach Program

The Birchtree Center brings its mission to children with autism and their families in their home, school and community settings. These services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each child through consultation by a behavior analyst or by direct instruction by trained staff.

Family Support

The birchtree Center offers education, training and support to family members to help develop management stragies, strengthen family resilience and facilitate collaborative relationships with other families, staff, and the larger community.

Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis is an intensive, structured teaching method that uses a systematic approach to assist children in developing and improving skills, including communication skills, pre-academic and academic skills, life skills, and appropriate social interactions and behaviors. Clinical instructors establish a positive one-to-one relationship with students, focus on breaking down skills into tasks, and tasks into steps, in order to maximize each student's skill development. Extensive research indicates that Applied Behavorial Analysis is the most effective approach to working with children and youth with autism.
