Strategies for Enhancing Social Communication across the Curriculum An Event in Honor of Autism Awareness Month
Barnes & Noble Booksellers 45 Gosling Road, Newington, NH Thursday, 4/23/09, 5pm Author and licensed psychologist Dr. Teresa Bolick will offer educators and parents “Strategies for Enhancing Social Communication across the Curriculum” during a presentation at Barnes and Noble Booksellers on April 23 starting at 5:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public; two hours of professional credit are available to educators.
Many students, including those with autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and other autism spectrum disorders, face social communication challenges. These challenges can contribute to academic and behavioral difficulties even in those without identified diagnoses. In this hour-long presentation, Dr. Bolick will focus on practical strategies to support the development of social communication skills across the curriculum and throughout the school day.
Dr. Teresa Bolick is a licensed psychologist with a special interest in neuro-developmental disorders including autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and other autism spectrum disorders. She holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in psychology from Emory University and a B.A. in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Bolick provides evaluation and treatment to children, adolescents, and their families. She consults frequently with schools in New Hampshire and Massachusetts and presents workshops for parents, paraprofessionals, and professionals across the nation.
Dr. Bolick has written extensively about Asperger’s Syndrome and related disorders. She is the author or co-author of several books, including Asperger Syndrome and Adolescence, Asperger's and Girls, and Asperger Syndrome and Young Children. Her books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
